Synopsis

This is the story of what happens when you find your soulmate. A story of a first love—and a last love. A story of Indonesia’s third President and its First Lady. The story of Habibie and Ainun. Rudy Habibie was a genius in aerospace engineering with a grand dream: to serve Indonesia by building a flying aircraft that could unite the archipelago. Ainun was a brilliant young doctor with a promising career path ahead of her. In 1962, the two junior high school friends reunited in Bandung. Habibie instantly fell in love with Ainun, whom he saw as sweet as sugar. Ainun, on the other hand, didn’t just fall in love—she believed in Habibie’s vision and dreams. They married and moved to Germany. Chasing a dream is never easy—and Habibie and Ainun knew that. Their love grew stronger through the trials of pursuing those dreams. The cold German winters, sacrifices, pain, loneliness, and temptations of wealth and power once they returned to Indonesia—all became part of their journey as two lives became one. To Habibie, Ainun was everything—his eyes to see the world. To Ainun, Habibie was everything—the love that completed her life. But every story has an end. Every dream has its limits. And one day, these two soulmates must face a question: Can love truly last forever?
