Speaker: Ellen Kim

Ellen KIM is a producer with an extensive overseas network based on her experience of working on with international film festivals such as Busan International Film Festival in 1998 as a chief program coordinator, and Buchoen International Fantastic Film Festival as a programmer in the early 2000s. She focused on foreign movie film markets from early on and established Flying Tiger Pictures in 2002, drawing from her experience as an overseas marketing director at Unikorea Culture & Art Investment. In 2001, she co-produced with Chinese and French partners the PPP project <Cry Woman> (2001) and the film went on to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard. In 2007, she joined bom Bom Film Productions as a producer and co-produced HONG Sang-soo’s <Night and Day> (2007). KIM also co-produced <Come Rain, Come Shine> (2011) by LEE Yoon-ki with Hong Kong investors for Bom Film Production. She joined Zamie Pictures in 2011 and acquired and distributed foreign films including <My Back Page> by YAMASHITA Nobuhiro and <Tyrannosaur> by Paddy Considyne. She produced Korean- Uzbek director Ruslan PAK’s <Hanaan> (2011), which premiered at the New directors’ competition at the 2011 Locarno International Film Festival and won thean Best New Director Award at Taipei International Film Festival. Currently she is teaching at Korean National University of Arts, and working as a programmer at Seoul International Youth Film Festival, while developing new projects at her production house Flying Tiger Pictures.

He hold a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Building upon my technical background, he pursued my passion for film directing through a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) program in Film Directing at Dongguk University’s Graduate School of Digital Image and Contents. Additionally, he specialized in Film Directing at the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA). This diverse educational background has equipped him with a unique blend of technical expertise and creative storytelling skills, enabling me to approach film projects with a multidimensional perspective.
